As mentionned here, Yakforms relies on a Drupal feature to ship its configuration. This page describes with further depth what this feature does, and how one can alter it.
What's in the box ?
The yakforms_feature contains the necessary configuration to operate all the Drupal modules used by Yakforms. This includes, but is not limited to :
form1content type, based on Webform, which is at the base of the sites' features.
- configuration of some Drupal Views : "Actualités", "Share", etc.
- menu links and taxonomy terms
The feature behaves just like a module : when you activate it, which you only need to do once on installation of the site, the configuration will be passed to the database, and the feature will be automatically disabled afterwards.
You'll only need to reactivate it on updates.
How to update the feature
If you want to contribute to Yakforms, and you changed some configuration using the Drupal admin interface, chances are that you modified some configuration in the database. In order to ship the modifications you made to the repo, you'll need to integrate them to
This step needs to be done whenever a module is changed.
(No, it's not ideal, yes, it should be automatized
First of all, the
Features module is shipped with your instance of Yakforms. Go to the configuration page, either by going to "Modules" > "Features" > "Configure" or by browsing to
Let's recreate the feature now, i.e. pass the configuration of the database into code.
- click on Recreate in the line corresponding to
- click on Advance options. The "URL of update XML" line you should leave blank, and the "Path to Generate feature module" line you should set to
profiles/yakforms_profile/modules. This will place the newly-generated feature inside the installation profile, and make it available to .
- You're done ! Don't forget to contribute and share your changes, MRs are welcome !
Note : You might get the following error :
Could not write module to profiles/yakforms_profile/modules/yakforms_feature. Ensure your file permissions allow the web server to write to that directory.
This is pretty straight forwards : the directory where we want to place the newly-generated feature is not writable by Drupal. To fix that, you'll need to make sure the
profiles/yakforms_profile/modules directory is owned by your Drupal user (
www-data if you are using NGINX), and that the user has write permissions on this folder.
