Weird behaviors with Firefox
Hi,
I was getting annoyed for a while with a lot of little weird behaviors on Firefox and lately finally had enough and started to investigate:
- I put back Chrome as default browser and the issue is not happening with Chrome but definitely with Firefox
- I uninstalled UntrackMe and the problems vanished, so that's why I'm posting here.
There's 2 distinct behaviors for me but could be related:
- Often when opening links from other apps linking to domainA.com or just manually tapping the url, the page loaded in Firefox is a single black web page with a very small link at the top saying things like "you've been redirected", or other times "Redirected", or "found". Looks like to represent HTTP status codes. I need to refresh the page for the domainA.com to load and display. And sometimes if there's multiple hops or redirections (domainA.com --> domainB.com --> etc) I need to refresh the page each time until the final page is reached.
- When tapping a link inside an open page on Firefox, the new page is systematically opened in a new tab. Same things when there's a lot of hops I found myself with many tabs opened for nothing. Not happening with UntrackMe uninstalled.
To reproduce:
- install Firefox browser as default
- install UntrackMe
- set UntrackMe to always open links in Firefox
- in a new firefox tab, first make sure you're not logged in gitlab, then tap gitlab.com and load
- you'll get the black page (bug n°1)
- refresh the page and gitlab will load
- click on any link (like Get Free Trial) and the page will open in a new tab (bug n°2)
Good luck with this :D
