Tp ep17 ep18
Ehehehe, getting these numbers up to over 50%!
Translation notes:
- Ep17
-
- Translating "potions against hunger" would have been very clunky, but the next speech bubble references it again... I decided to lose the reference in favour of it sounding better.
-
- For both Ep17 and Ep18 I continued to use Mumoku for the onomatopoeia of Carrot's stomach
- Ep18
-
- OK, those were a lot of new names! Not really an issue for the characters, I tokiponized the names - I did go with jan Pasilikun instead of jan Pasili for Basilic, from the Latin (and German) name for the herb.
-
- Hippiah took me a while though, and I ultimately didn't find a solution myself: I checked Libre Fan's translation of episode 24 and their translation Pipona seemed to be a nice fit, with pi and pona, despite pi needing at least two following words.
-
- This did give me an idea that I'll have to think about: Ah became kulupu Aa, why not try to make that consistent across all schools of the magic system? kulupu Pakalaa, kulupu Aa, kulupu Piponaa... I think my current use of the technologist's union doesn't work, but that one isn't part of the magic system. The only issue is: I'd have to translate the other ones first and see if it combines as nicely for the others. Oh, and it doesn't follow toki pona's phonotactics, and Aa was kind of an exception because the expression a can be stretched...
-
- Given that Carrot's/soweli Kawa's name isn't derived from the vegetable, I left out the reference that Pepper has an idea how to name him and just said it needed to be a cute name.
