Tp ep12

Ret Samys requested to merge tp-ep12 into master

Translation notes:

  • Ok, lots of complicated concepts again, but here's a fun one: pseudo-latin curses. I tried some variations of combining related Toki Pona words by putting the head of a noun phrase between two sillables of the complement. But I decided to make it closer to Latin phonotactics than to Toki Pona phonotactics.
  • Basically all of the technobabble is probably at least a tiny bit dubious and I wouldn't be surprised if there were lots of changes. For gravity, "nasin pi kama anpa kiwen" did it for me.
  • Likewise, translating mass as "kiwen" was fine for me in this context
  • gravitational field differential? Oh sure, that's kama ante pi nasin pi kama anpa kiwen, no sweat. Good grief, I sweat this takes a paragraph of context to make sense.
  • sike awen for orbits make more sense. poki awen for Lagrange points? Good enough for now. A tokiponization would also work, maybe, but I think the whole sentence describes the effect on the objects well enough.
  • Event Horizon was surprisingly easy, seli pi lupa pimeja works pretty well, I think.
  • In conclusion: I kind of hope it doesn't frustrate readers to read through that, it is technobabble after all (even though the fun of it is that it actually describes somewhat meaningful stuff) - and at the same time, I hope someone is frustrated and has some thoughts on how to make it even more readable.

Also, I think I understand the process a little better now, thanks to Martin Disch explaining the pipeline.
