[for all translation] Website usage of word free (as in gratis) became problematic
Hi, I get new recommendation from Dora Scilipoti and Dr Richard Stallman from Gnu.org to disambiguate the usage of the word "Free" and I do agree with it. It concerns mainly the main homepage and Philosophy in this files here https://framagit.org/peppercarrot/website/tree/master/themes/peppercarrot-theme_v2/lang
Example:
Un webcomic libre, gratuit et open-source
should become
Un webcomic libre et open-source
For the English version:
A free, libre and open-source webcomic
become
A free(libre) and open-source webcomic
Italian translator already did it right (that was appreciated).
Un webcomic libero e open-source
In a nutshell:
Whenever the word free could be mixed between free(libre) or free(gratis) disambiguate with free(libre).
So, why it was like that at first:
Because so far I used both words in the vision of communicating that Pepper&Carrot was and Free(libre) and Free(gratis) as in "gratis to read" online. But after all the years of donations to keep the adventure on-going, all the support and all time and resources that was necessary to spent in this project is it still free(gratis)? All the webcomic proposed to read for free(libre) had a cost... Also, without sponsoring I would probably not work on it as much. Also, the terms gratuit/gratis is often synonym of low quality: so I have an extra motivation to evacuate it.
