Use GeoJSON format for sample files with more than 1000 features
By default, SQLite does not accept tables with more than 1000 columns. The shapefile format is limited to 2048 attributes and a max size of 2 GB. When building sample files with long time series and/or several sensors, these limits can be to small. In order to be able to write sample files with many features, the GeoJSON format can be used.
GeoJSON should not be the default format since it is slown on I/O. It should only be used if needed.
Support for this format has just been added to the develop branch of OTB and should be available on the next stable release (the one following 6.7).
This means that:
- By now iota2 should be built using OTB's develop branch.
- iota2 should use the appropriate format depending on the number of columns of the sample files (nb of features + other columns like geometry, region ID, etc.): for less than 1000 cols, use SQLite, between 1000 and 2048 use shapefile, and GeoJSON for more than 2018.
