Mentions take precedence over other markup, making many URLs with @ in them such as links to Mastodon posts impossible
Mentions, at least working mentions, apparently have a higher priority in the BBcode parser.
For example, if there is anything in an URL included in [url=][/url]
tags that can work as a mention of an actor, Hubzilla ignores the [url=][/url]
tags and parses the mention instead.
How to reproduce:
- Put
[url=https://mastodon.social/@jupiter_rowland@hub.netzgemeinde.eu/111121999837226755]Test[/url]
into the post editor. - Generate a preview.
Expected result:
The [url=][/url]
tags are parsed, and the URL in [url=]
is used to create an embedded hyperlink.
Actual result:
The [url=][/url]
tags are parsed because @jupiter_rowland
is recognised as a mention, regardless of being inside a [url=]
tag.

(Caution, I had to insert multiple zero-width spaces into the above Markdown code to out-smart the Markdown parser. Don't blindly copy-paste the above to try to use it as an actual URL.)
