custom emoji picker performs badly with large numbers of emoji
Describe the improvement
Caching & loading of custom emoji is naive on instances with a large number of emoji. See for example mstdn.io, sinblr.com.
Issues I've noticed:
- Emoji aren't cached aggressively enough, leading to the emoji picker being repopulated far too often
- Emoji aren't pre-loaded when scrolling in the picker and when the emoji aren't cached - in other words, Fedilab waits for un-downloaded emoji to scroll into view before attempting to load them, rather than continuing to populate emoji which haven't scrolled into view in anticipation that the user may scroll to them.
- After scrolling down a "page" or two, incorrect emoji are displayed until the correct emoji are loaded, at which point they overwrite the incorrectly displayed emoji.
