Git pull uses `--all` but code references remote `origin`
In https://framagit.org/steckerhalter/quelpa/blob/master/quelpa.el#L880 there's a call to git fetch --all --tags
, which fetches from all git remotes for a given repo.
A few lines further down, https://framagit.org/steckerhalter/quelpa/blob/master/quelpa.el#L902, there's a reference specifically to the remote origin
, which is the default used in git.
Since GitHub stores PRs in a particular ref location it's possible to fetch them like other references. For this purpose I have the following in my ~/.gitconfig
file:
[remote "github"]
fetch = +refs/pull/*/head:refs/remotes/github/pr/*
This has the side effect of the remote github
being shown for all repos, no matter if they actually have a remote URL or not. With the call to git fetch --all --tags
git will try to fetch from the github
remote, even though it doesn't exist.
Since there's already a reference to origin
it would be preferable to change the call to git fetch --tags origin
in order to avoid these problems.
