Suggestion(s) for the new website
It might be helpful once the website is restored to show some kind of 'comment' before it is possible to access the actual site. Sorry it's a bit hard to put in words my idea... If someone opens 'paragliding.earth' then a kind of 'welcoming page' should appear (a little similar to what the user gets to see when he opens 'paragliding.earth' now). Here you can explain what happened, what you did, what was possible to restore (and what not!) AND that you ask all users to check their 'home sites' and kindly update them where the data could not be restored (site rating/ calendar/ comments for pictures etc) Only then - by clicking a kind of 'access pgearth now' -button, should the new website be accessible (at least for 4-6 months).
To make it known that pgearth is up and running again, you could then send a message to 'luglidz' (https://lu-glidz.blogspot.com/). His blog is widely read and almost daily updated. So possible users get to know quicker that the site is available again. Maybe informing 'xcmag' is also an option.
