\section*{Objectives}
To bring students from varying academic backgrounds up to a common scientific level in Fluid Mechanics, within the frame of a Masters program in Chemical and Process Engineering. In particular,
\begin{itemize}
\item To provide students with analytical tools to describe and understand fluid flows, and to quantify flow-induced forces;
\item To provide students with a strong foundation for the later study of turbulent flow and computational fluid dynamics.
\end{itemize}
The level of the course is to match closely that of mainstream undergraduate textbooks, i.e. White~\cite{white2008}, Çengel et~al. \cite{cengelcimbala2010}, and Munson et~al.~\cite{munsonetal2013}.
\section*{Format}
\begin{description}
\item[Lectures] 14 $\times$ \SI{90}{\minute}. Sessions may include some time dedicated to exercises depending on time constraints. \textsc{pdf} files of the course content (based on referenced textbooks) and of the lecture slides are provided.
\item[Exercise sessions] 7 $\times$ \SI{90}{\minute} (in half-size classes) during which the lecturer(s) assist students with solving given problems. \\There is not enough time during the exercise sessions to go through the whole exercise sheets in detail. Thus students are expected to work through them before and after the sessions.
\item[One final exam] of \SI{120}{min} which is the only assessment for the course. Exam problems are wholly based on the exercise sheets.
