Hi,
I was using the scheduler easy_bf
in my work, and wanted to switch to easy_bf_fast
for performance reasons.
However, while making some tests, I realized that they do not produce exactly the same outputs on the same inputs.
The following folder contains every file needed to reproduce the bug (nix file, platform file, workload and robin file): mwe_easy_bf_fast.zip.
Enter the folder and run
nix-shell -A exp_env
robin easy_bf.yaml
robin easy_bf_fast.yaml
diff out/easy_bf/_jobs.csv out/easy_bf_fast/_jobs.csv
We see that job 58 gets executed earlier with easy_bf_fast
.
Do you understand the reason? What confidence should I have that both the scheduler behave as they should?
Thank you for your help :)
While trying to compare the outputs of easy_bf
and easy_bf_fast
, I realized some differences:
easy_bf_fast
doing backfilling when it should noteasy_bf_fast
not backfilling when it shouldSee more details in issue #9
This MR should fix these differences and close issue #9.
