is upgrading safe if I want to continue using Tidal?

Hi, I'm still using upmpdcli 1.4.12 with libupnpp 0.19.2 with my Tidal account, for which I managed to find a token. I read in the changelog that with newer versions Tidal doesn't work at all anymore. Should I stick to the old version, or can I upgrade safely anyway?
