Study the possibility to migrate framadate.org to PostgreSQL database
Since !305 (merged) framadate is able to use PostgreSQL as a database storage system.
Currently framadate.org uses MySQL (5.5 at the time of writing). However MySQL 5.5 is EOL since December 2018. Also PostgreSQL is a very popular open source RDBMS, known to be stable and have many good open source tooling (for dump/restore, for replication, for monitoring...)
This issue is here to study the possibility of a prod migration:
-
Make sure the PostgreSQL driver and addition of !305 (merged) is battle tested -
Add automatic tests to make sure migrations work on all supported drivers of Framadate. See !388 (merged). This point led to further issues with PostgreSQL 10+ versions: -
Make migrations pass using PostgreSQL: -
Bump doctrine/migration
to 1.8 ; -
Ensure that dates default values are other than 0
(Postgres doesn't like0
dates)
-
-
Postgres lowercases column names, which means all field names expecting e.g. $poll->receiveNewComments
will getreceivenewcomments
instead; which breaks some code. -
