It would be nice to set an explicit IP address for the name servers

It could be useful to allow an explicit IP address on a name server, both as a workaround for #2 and also if the resolution of the name server's name does not work. A sort of glue.
Indicating the name server by its address is not sufficient: it requires a PTR and the request is still done for all addresses.
Suggested syntax: name=address. Example: check-soa -ns "foo.example=192.0.2.1 ns.example=2001:db8::1" example
