Hide and show the native tab bar (#tabbrowser-tabs)
I'm currently using the following userChrome.css to hide the native (horizontal) tab bar:
#tabbrowser-tabs { visibility: collapse }
This works well for 90% of circumstances, namely:
- one Firefox window with the Tab Center sidebar and many open tabs;
- additional windows with no sidebar and only one tab, for applications that need all the screen space (eg. Cloud9 IDE)
But sometimes one of the windows with no sidebar spawns a new tab, which is hidden.
I would like to have a shortcut key or a toolbar button to hide/show the main tab bar. Ideally, it should be hidden automatically when Tab Center is shown, and it should be made visible again when Tab Center is hidden, so that we always have a list of tabs somewhere on the screen.
Can we grant additional privileges to the extension so that it can show and hide the native tab bar?
Otherwise, can we find a way for Tab Center to set a flag or a variable anywhere in Firefox, so that we can use it inside of userChrome.css? Something like:
@tab-center(visible: true) {
#tabbrowser-tabs { visibility: collapse }
}
or even:
#random-other-thing[class*="tab-center-hack"] #tabbrowser-tabs { visibility: collapse }
Thanks in advance to whomever will find a solution or a hack!
