Moving a node may modify objects that are not related to this node
Summary
- Operating system : Linux Ubuntu 18/04
- Web browser : Firefox 78.0.2 (64 bits)
Moving a single node shared by several rooms produces a lot of changes to objects that are not related to the node or even those rooms.
Steps to reproduce
(How one can reproduce the issue - this is very important)
- Open OsmInEdit on Gare Saint-Lazare in Paris : https://osminedit.pavie.info/#21/48.87588/2.32427/0
- Select the room Class'Croute at level 0 (way/333424217) – you can't select it directly, a workaround is to first select a point or linear item nearby then Edit this object to switch to Edit mode, and finally select the room.
- Drag the node on the south-east corner (node/3403997926) somewhere inside the room (actual position does not matter)
- Commit the change – the analysis takes a little while
Note: while trying to reproduce the bug in order to write up this issue, analyzing the changes never completes...
What is the current bug behavior?
No less than 28 ways get modified, and 8 nodes deleted. I actually committed the change, so the result can be observed with OsmCha: https://osmcha.org/changesets/88409111/. I checked a couple of those changes (before revering the whole changeset):
- a building totally unrelated (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/67644299) is changed with a node added to it
- steps at the other end of the railway station (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/320562708) is modified : 2 nodes are added to it, which causes these steps to be connected with nearby steps that cover different levels: this creates a topological connection that makes no sense.
What is the expected correct behavior?
Objects that are not directly related to the ones edited should not be touched.
